I have been working in the software development industry for over ten years but when I initially started working as a jr. software developer, the approach was mostly to look for a job in the job portal and apply or ask a friend for a referral. Don’t get me wrong currently it still works, it will not go away but as my career progressed and my thinking got evolved now i think along with using the traditional channel(s), we all need to have a some short of personal brand and present online which i believe LinkedIn is the most important and critical tool for that.

LinkedIn

The reason why its really becoming more important and critical than ever is because the shift that is happening in the way company search and find the talented candidates. Most of the companies still keep some short of internal/SaaS(Software as a Service) system to keep track of candidates history but the search doesn’t end there any more. Also, LinkedIn is a perfect place to show off your skills, keep track of the project history and its put ourselves in a better place to be able to find by the recruiters.
